Why choose a pallet sofa?
As well as being economical (you can buy new pallets, but also try your luck on second-hand websites – you never know what gem you might find), a pallet sofa is also ultra trendy and will give your outdoor space a holiday and relaxation feel. Cosy ambiance guaranteed!
But that is not the only advantage: opting for a pallet sofa means building it yourself. Although it is very easy to do – see our tips below – building your pallet sofa can become a lovely activity to share with friends, as a couple, or with the family.
Wood is also a material that is both durable and very beautiful, and is perfectly suited to your outdoor spaces.
Convinced? Here is how to go about it:
How to build my pallet sofa?
First of all, you need to get properly equipped. Here is the equipment you will need:
- 3 pallets (preferably Euro pallets)
- 1 wooden slat the width of the pallet, i.e. 1.20 m
- 1 drill-driver
- 50×4 mm wood screws and 35×4 mm wood screws
- 4 swivel castors (2 with brakes)
1st step: Stack 2 pallets to form the seat of your sofa and secure them together with screws (35×4 mm).
2nd step: Next, to create the seat structure of your sofa, screw the wooden slat onto the side edge of the top pallet using 50 mm screws.
3rd step: Place the third pallet against the slat and screw the backrest on both sides of the pallet.
4th step (optional): If you want to create a mobile sofa, you can attach 4 castors underneath your sofa (the 2 swivel castors with brakes should be placed at the front of the sofa).
5th step: Decorate your sofa with comfortable and hard-wearing sofa cushions.
